About Us

The Katagum Youth League (KYL) is a non-partisan, non-governmental youth development organisation duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria and the Bauchi State Government, founded on 12th August 2021 — International Youth Day — in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State, Nigeria.

Founded by Comr. Jamilu Alhaji Mato with the conviction that the next chapter of leadership for Bauchi State and Nigeria must be built from the grassroots of Katagum Zone, KYL operates across all seven Local Government Areas of Katagum Zone — Gamawa, Giade, Itas/Gadau, Jama'are, Katagum, Shira, and Zaki.

In five years of operations, KYL has grown into the most structured and impactful youth development organisation in Bauchi North — with a formally adopted Constitution, a 25-seat Executive Council, a Board of Trustees, and a flagship leadership fellowship that has received 926 applications and graduated 38 leaders now active across Bauchi State.

"The next chapter of leaders in Bauchi State and Nigeria is here. At KYL, we are not waiting for tomorrow — we are building it today, from the grassroots of Katagum Zone."

— Comr. Jamilu Alhaji Mato, Founder & Executive Chairman, Katagum Youth League

Strategic Objectives

Our official strategic priorities under the Constitution 2025 guiding the league's operations and programs.

1. Leadership Pipeline

To build a structured, documented, and internationally recognised pipeline that identifies, develops, and deploys youth leaders from Katagum Zone into positions of impact at community, state, and national levels.

2. Program Excellence

To design, deliver, and continuously improve programs that address the leadership, civic, economic, health, and digital development needs of youth across all seven LGAs of Katagum Zone.

3. Institutional Strength

To govern KYL with transparency, accountability, and democratic legitimacy — maintaining institutional standards that meet the requirements of state, national, and international partners.

4. Financial Sustainability

To build a diversified, stable, and growing resource base that funds KYL's programs, operations, and institutional development without dependence on any single source.

5. Partnerships & Recognition

To establish credible, active, and mutually beneficial partnerships with government, civil society, the private sector, and international bodies.

6. Community Impact

To ensure that KYL's work produces measurable, documented, and visible improvements in the lives of young people and communities across Katagum Zone.
